Sammy Miller MBE and everyone at the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum in the New Forest, UK, are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of George W. Barber.
George was arguably one of the greatest champions of the classic motorcycle scene. He created the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum – widely regarded as the finest motorcycle museum complex in the world, complete with an international Grand Prix circuit that continues to host prestigious classic motorcycle and car race meetings.
Through his Barber Racing Team and his tireless dedication to the sport, George earned worldwide respect — not only for his achievements, but for his character. He was always the perfect gentleman.
I have very fond memories of time spent with George and John Surtees, discussing our shared passion for the classic world of racing.
George’s passing is a tremendous loss. His legacy will endure, and he will forever hold a distinguished place in classic motorcycling history.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Sammy Miller MBE
